RRR Challenge 1

Theme is Upcycled Clothing

The Rules:
- Create new clothing from old clothing or untraditional items. Or create something unexpected from old clothing!

-This challenge is open to all Craftster members.

-Each participant may enter one project, it may be a set or a single piece.

-It can be any style or made out of any material as long as it fits the theme

-It has to be a current piece. It can not be something that you have already made and posted.

-Post your craft during the period of June 21, 2010 to August 21, 2010

-Voting will be posted from August 22-28, 2010

-On August 29th a winner will be announced

How to post your project:
We are set up differently than other boards, so please pay special attention to this section even if you have participated in challenges before! Thank you!
-Please DO NOT post your completed project on this thread, please start a new thread the appropriate category folder such as Reconstructed Clothing, Toys, etc. If you are unsure what the most appropriate category would be for your item, shoot me a PM, and I'll help you figure it out!  Grin

-Post the link to your thread in this discussion, or send it to me in a PM, and I will update the list of entries!

-Name your project something memorable, starting with "RRR Challenge 1:"  This will help me later when it is moved to the archive folder

-Post pictures: from different angles and close-ups that help us see what you made clearly

-Post the story of your project, that could be your inspiration, how you made it, something to let us know how your project came to be.

-Please don't beg for votes.

And now the good part!

The Prize:
The winner will have a choice of one of these books:
Sewing Green: 25 Projects Made with Repurposed and Organic Materials

Newbie question here (I'm still trying to figure out all the terminology....)
Rules say to make something out of " untraditional items" .
Would a duvet cover turned into skirt count, or do you mean make clothing out of something untraditional for instance door handles and packing tape?

Cheesy  count me in...it'd been awhile since looking here, the voting was going on and I'd been saving materials from the trash bin for making another something...now that I know what the challenge turned out to be, I have another idea for this one...I usually save garments for making quilts and bags from, this will be a fun challenge!

I probably should reword that! Anything recreated, so a duvet cover into a skirt= great
door handles into a skirt= sounds painful, but if you want to wear it= great
2 yards of fabric from Joann's or the thrift store into a skirt= not following the rules.
Recreate.
