Catching the Undead Since 2011!

I've been busy working on lots of knitting swap projects and now that they're finally all arrived at their new homes, I can share pictures!

I made this Lace Leaf Capelet for my partner in the Yarnies Scavenger Hunt.  I used about 400 yards of super bulky wool which created a warm, heavy capelet that would be perfect to wear in cool fall evenings or throughout winter.  It was a pretty quick knit, despite its size, and the pattern was pretty easy to follow.

For the Be Awesome swap, I knitted Danica (from Knitty's Winter '05 issue).  I settled down for a weekend and between the end of work on Friday and the evening on Sunday, I had finished!

It's knit with three skeins of Patons SWS in the colorway "Natural Earth" which created a scarf that was about 5 1/2 feet long.  Though I had some trepidation about the pattern before beginning, I found that it was really easy and fun to knit once I got going!

This is so beautiful! I really admire your talent! I have been trying to learn, but I'm definitely a beginner. Just out of curiosity, how long did the capelet take you to create? I feel like my knitting projects go so slowly, but maybe once I have more experience with it it will move faster?

Anyway, great work- it's lovely! Cheesy

Thank you! The capelet was a lot of fun to knit.. and according to my notes, I cast on April 20th and finished it on May 1st, so a little less than two weeks. Smiley

Knitting is slower than a lot of crafts, I think.  It definitely gets faster the more you do it but I'd never try to win a race with my knitting.

Good luck with your knitting! If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

That capelet is gorgeous!! I really admire it: I think it can be hard to find flattering garments made with super bulky yarns.  You hit this one right on!

Wow, two weeks?! You are amazing. I'm going to start working on something now, so maybe once fall comes I'll have something done.  Wink Thanks for the inspiration!

I totally agree, striker. So often things knit with bulky yarns look heavy and well...bulky I guess Smiley. This, on the other hand, looks cozy and warm but the lace elements are also light and delicate. I've had some blue bulky yarn in my stash for years and have never found a good project for it - this just might be it!! Thanks for the inspiration, lapoli.

And that scarf...I knew I had to make one as soon as I saw it in the Be Awesome gallery. It's gorgeous.
