i made a purse for my friend brittany last year, but i just now found the pics, and im also pretty new to craftster, this is the second thing ive posted.

ive been using grocery bags to crochet with for quite a while. i really love working with the plastic, its super versatile, and is awesome for making baskets or purses. making the yarn is pretty time consuming, although if you have a couple of friends, you can knock some out pretty quickly, say, an afternoon.

lemme know if we need a tutorial on how i make my yarn.

everyone, meet ninja. hes cute. he likes to see what i do. and sit on my head. (i really like the checkerboard pattern that i used for under the flap)

and here you can see it with the flap closed. you can also sorta see the way i crocheted the strap, using the black as a highlight chain stitch.

Cheesy the last time i made myself a purse, it seriously lasted about 3 or 4 years of continuous use.

I want to make one of those so bad! I don't know if I would have the patience to prep all the bags to crochet them :/ Great job though!

What a great idea!  How do you make the "yarn"?  Do you cut the bags into strips?  How do you join the strips?  I have so many of those bags kicking around - it would be great to do something with them.
