This is an imp, not a devilish one, but a little nature sprite that I found hiding in my garden. I'm hoping he'll keep the pests away from my plants, but he's as likely to eat my tomatoes before I get to them!

I made this little guy on a whim the other day. I had an urge to make a simple imp-like creature, so I scribbled a quick sketch then tried to make him look like it. I wasn't entirely happy with him until I added the details - the ears, the horns, the tail and the ruff round his neck. He's made with acrylic yarn, apart from his fur which is an alpaca mix and which has been brushed to make it fuzzy.

I put this guy in the Crochet Fantasy Challenge, so I hope it's okay to repost here. I was trying out a different shape with the big legs, and I'd really like some feedback as to what people think.

I absolutely adore him!! Cheesy I think the shape of his legs is perfect. Smiley Is the little guy pose-able?

Very cute. The little ruff is ingenious.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback!

He isn't really poseable - I'm not very keen on putting wires into crochet figures, I always worry that they will end up poking out. Of course, crochet can be a bit poseable on its own, the imp's tail, for example, can be bent into a curve.

The ruff was the last addition - I sat and looked at him for ages trying to decide what to add, I thought about a tummy patch, which didn't look right, and clothes, but I just didn't think he was the sort of creature who wears clothes. I was really happy when I decided on the ruff.  In retrospect I would have included a couple of rows of furry yarn above the hands and feet and around the neck while I was crocheting him to give a bit more detail and interest.

I so admire people that can do this craft. I wish I could, I'd have a thousand little critters running...okay, laying...around my home!
