The Lil Hippies are taking over!

I made this guy for a friend of mine.  He wanted a big blue dragon, and I think this guy fits the bill pretty well!  He ended up being between 2 and 3 feet long, from head to tail.  This is the biggest plushie I've ever made!  My friend decided to name him Puff.  He's made of a really soft chenille yarn.

I debated between entering this guy and my swamp monster, but I think this guy is a little more family friendly.

Full body shot, plus my messy kitchen table.

I used cat's eye safety eyes.  I originally had regular safety eyes for him, but they just didn't look right.

The spines on his back are the chenille with a sport weight yellow held double.

He's so big, it's hard to fit him all in one shot!

This shot really shows how loooooong he is.  And I think it looks like he's flying.  Cheesy

This is really blurry, but the colors are true in this picture.  He's a pretty dark blue.

The pattern is available here.  I obviously modified the gauge to make this.

Thanks, ladies!  He is super snuggly.  My friend cuddled with him most of the night.  I should have snapped a pic.  It was too cute!

Very nice! I bet the chenille was a pain to work with, but totally worth it - he looks super-snuggly!

Oh god, like you wouldn't believe!  There were little blue bits all over my house, and it's near impossible to see your stitches!  I should have taken an in-progress shot.  I had a stitch marker in every other stitch just to make sure I got them all. Chenillle almost as annoying as fun fur.

Cute! He really does look very soft, and I love the colours. I'm pleased you liked my dragon pattern - did he end up so big just because of the thickness of yarn or did you do more increases?

The yarn was super bulky weight, along with a much larger hook.  I added a few increases in the body to make him a bit fatter, and I made the tail a little bit longer.  I made the neck a touch shorter, because the longer one had no hope of supporting that head.  The spikes were made with an even bigger hook, because they originally looked too little and unimposing.  I didn't follow the pattern too closely for the legs.  By that point I was so annoyed with the chenille that I was ready to be done with it, so I took a few liberties, and threw in a dc here and there.
It really is a great pattern you've written!  I've made 5 of them now, but this one is definitely my favorite.
