Hey guys, so often when i try to search for people using the member search my searches come up blank. ive discovered that unless you type the person's name exactly with the correct spelling then the search comes up with absolutely nothing thus defeating the point of a member search in the first place. it would be helpful if the search actually produced some suggestions of members with similar user names. for instance, i just searched for someone whos name is something like ladylietzen-although i am sure i misspelled it. i was hoping the search would produce the right member but it didnt.
is there any plans in the future to fix this? have other people had this problem?

Ahh.  Well, it's not coded like a auto-detect/correct for a spell check feature would be, for example.  It does detect partial usernames and of course, exact usernames.

For example, if I couldn't remember your full uersname of aisy, I would search ais and it would list everyone with "ais" in their username.

Another example would be if someone couldn't remember my full username of sweets4ever.  Perhaps they could only remember the latter half, so they would search 4ever and get the list of everyone with "4ever" in their username.

It's good food for thought, though.  I'm not entirely sure if we could alter the code to provide auto-suggestions, but I'll follow this thread to see if it's a featured desired by lots of members.

If you do a partial search it can seem overwhelming, but my trick is to look at number of posts. For instance, I searched for "ladyl" and got 3 pages of results, but by looking at number of posts I quickly found LadyLietzen since she had a lot of posts and most of the returns had less than 20.

Try searching for "aisy" and see how many pages you get.  Wink Grin
