so. this seems to be my thing now.  i am the memory quilt lady. my friend has been passing my name around to her widows support group.  these quilts were commissioned after seeing these http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=280769.msg3179018;topicseen#msg3179018 and these http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=326681.msg3771956;topicseen#msg3771956  ( i swear i give the widows a choice of pattern... i dont know why they pick the same ones)

there are six quilts but one already went to live in holland. so it didn't get into the picture.  the owner originally said she wanted these for christmas. so i naturally got myself into a bunch of swaps and charity quilts and kinds slowly was plugging away at them.   (except for the holland one it was done beginning of may) she called last week and asked if there was any way she could give the quilts to her kids for fathers day.  !!eeep!! long story short. i got it done.

all together

mom's quilt (the sashing was from a silky microsuede type fabric.. what a NIGHTMARE to sew... especially the binding)

These are fabulous.  What a wonderful idea and very good to remember the good times!  I wish I had some of my dad's clothes so I could make one of these for my mom.

What a great idea! I love the ones with squares, best.  I wish I had more of my dad's clothes that I could do this with.

I've started a quilt like this but with a babies onesies. I've cut 4x4 inch squares out of them. Then I stopped because we were going to get some fabric to make a border all around every square to make the whole thing bigger, but now it seems that I'm going to just sew the squares together and make a nice sized border. I've told my older brother about this idea but it seems that they are giving their onesies to another couple with a slightly younger baby... Oh well, their loss!
