Ally here!

Hmm, would this be acceptable?

I sign up for this swap and craft for my partner, but my partner crafts for my gay best friend? He gets a little neglected these days and it would be fun to surprise him, he loves the idea of craft swaps but isn't crafty himself.
Yeah, that would be fine.  I ended up crafting a couple of things for my partner's son last time, and I don't see the reason not to!

Yeah, stereotypes don't work.  I don't look like the "typical" lesbian, so people usually ignore me...Cheesy

Oh lets not EVEN get into the "you look too girlie to be a lesbian" conversation.... I am a girl.... I wear dresses (some that I have made Wink ) and I am not going to change that so that someone realizes I am gay... the pic on my profile/avatar is me too and even then I am told I still look super girlie... not changing that just so I can get a date.... I am going to hope that some day I will meet a girl that is interested without the stereotypes and games... I am too old for those now....

i'm right there with you hon. i'm very girly and people never know i'm gay unless i tell them. and even then boys think i'm faking just to 'let them off easily' it's SO annoying! but i like being girly, so that way i shall stay  Smiley

anyways, i'm filling out my questionnaire now!

I've spent so many years with people thinking I was a lesbian on first impression 'cos I apparently was rocking "the look".  And having The Look and going to gay bars (my disco did actually need me)...it could only mean I was gay.   Grin

I've never done a OTT swap but I think I'm gonna have to join this.

Ooo! Or faking because you secretly want to bring your girlfirend over to their place so they can watch!!  Cheesy Boys are funny creatures. lol

I am seriously thinking about joining this swap. It's small.. I can squeeze a small craft in to my life.. and Pride is coming... I'm sure I can talk myself in to this one.. Grin

I think it's funny what we do with gender stereotypes.  I was Pyramid Head for Halloween, and this meant bare arms.  I went with the bound breasts under my costume and a sports bra.  (Cut off men's XL tee shirt, no sleeves and a broadcloth apron in front.)

Some dude thought I was a guy, until I spoke out of my helmet.  (Not even my normal drag costumes look so good.)

Two gals tried to buy me a drink as I passed a straight bar.  It was amusing!

Most of the time, I do "pass" as a member of the straight community.  I do have a tattoo that says "sisters" in Latin, although it's never shown in public that much!  Cheesy

Yep, you guys and gals are part of the spectrum - I should change the post!  Cheesy

another asexual here!   Grin i'm attracted to people's minds and spirit...and i find neither "males" nor "females" particularly attractive, generally...

as for crafting, i've got a couple of mini cross-stitch and embroidery projects i could offer, or maybe a handbound, mixed-paper journal? a stationary set? a mini photo-album? i don't know, i usually get my inspiration after i know something about who i'm partnered with. i'm not very skilled with yarn, but i do have this skein of rainbow handspun yarn i got from craftster UntouchableFace, which i'd loooove to use for an lgbtq-specific project!

and only because it's relevant, i'd like to invite you all over to the Queercraft blog and if you want to be a contributor, please let us know! (i get peeved when people use Craftster to try to direct traffic to their blogs, so please note that Queercraft is a collective project, not *my* blog. it wasn't my idea and i didn't start it, i'm just a contributor trying to build community amongst the crafty queer folk of the world.  Smiley)
