My flat has been a mess for years because I didn't have enough shelving. Reason for this was that I had an Ikea- bookcase which was discontinued before I had money to buy a pair for it. For years I hunted for a second one in fleamarkets, online auctions etc. and finally last month I found one online. I placed a bid BUT I hadn't noticed the Buy It Now option so someone else snagged it. I even sent them an e-mail begging them to sell it to me and I'd even pay the same price it would have been in Ikea but they didn't even reply. Then I realised that there's no point living in a messy flat so I decided to buy first bookcase I could pimp. Again I placed a bid but I lost! Again! But then the winner didn't want to buy it, so the seller the contacted me and asked if I'm still interested. Hell yeah I was! I paid 40 euros for the case and 10 euros for delivering it to my place.
So here is the before:

And then the finished bookshelf:

I don't want to brag but I love this. AND my place is now so neat and tidy...
C&C is welcomed. Plus I think this rocks...*cough*

Wow, what weird luck. But sure was worth the wait cause your bookcase came out fantastic.  It has so much storage space. Love the back patterns.

I went to a local DIY-store and pretty much begged them to sell me yardage from the sample rolls. It was worth the money I spent.
They are very designey.

It came without the backing?!  I have a case without the backing and I have no idea what to ask for to buy some.  The men at the hardware store looked at me like I was nuts when I tried to explain!  What IS it called?!  Because I totally want to pimp mine out now!

That turned really amazing.  Cheesy  I need to do something like that for our house.  Its small, tiny and so cramped that its difficult to organize everything.  Think I'll be looking at yardsales for shelves to redo now.

Want to learn to crochet or knit?  I have a ton of extra crochet hooks & circular knitting needles.  Will throw in some pattern books and yarn for anyone interested in a swap.
