I've been meaning to make a new pincushion for a while, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. Then this morning while looking in a cupboard for a photo frame I found a green bucket, and I thought, this would make a cool pincushion! So I rummaged through my stash and found some purple corduroy, which complimented the green perfectly.
This is what I cam up with:
You can take the top off and keep things in the bucket.
And now on to the attack:
Gather your supplies. You need:
Strong thread (not pictured)
Hot glue gun (not pictured)
Stuffing (not pictured)
Cut a circle a bit more than double the diameter of your bucket. (My bucket was 15cm in diameter, so my circle of fabric is 34cm in diameter)
Sew a long running stitch around the perimeter of your fabric.
Gather up the circle about halfway and stuff.
Pull the gathers as tightly as you can, but be gentle! The first time I did this the thread broke and I had to do it again. Fasten off the thread. Add some more stuffing at this point if you want.
Cut out some fabric and glue it over the hole. Being careful not to burn yourself.
Glue your lace around the perimeter.
Make some loops of lace and glue them either side of your cushion. Put the cushion in your bucket and you're done!
I put bows on mine.
