I made this chess set for my honey out of hardware!  I guess you could call it steampunk?

They're both from the same "root" - cyberpunk - but focus on different time periods/elements.

Dieselpunk is 1920s through the early 1950s.

But I really do like this set. I've been looking to create similar sets myself. Smiley

Very very cool. Are you going to make a board to go with them?

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

I have seen a set similar to this one before online. I know the guys that I seen went an extra step to age the nuts and bolts. Awesome. definitely need to make a board for it.

My little geeky son and hubby would love this. His little sister broke one chess set that was wooden then he got a GLASS one as a gift (it has a glass pane board Hello. Little kids??) This would be an awesome alternative.

I want to make a board, but I'm not sure I'll have time before his brithday.  I'm thinking of some flashing in a frame marked out with electrical tape.  Either that or tile something with 2" square tiles, but those add up pretty quickly.  I may have to wait for Christmas to add the board for the set Wink

P.S.  This is the second one I've made.  Here's a link to the first, for my dad, a couple of years ago:
