Dear Potholder Swapping Friends,

Prepare to be jealous!

I received the most amazing potholders last night from Wulf!  He took my hopes and dreams of a Steampunk-Apothecary Kitchen, and went wild with them!

Detail shot of the leather loops & studs:

Detail of the quilting on the back:

And because I can't stop showing these babies off, some more shots:

Thank you so much Wulf!  They are amazing and fun and are totally jazzing up my kitchen now.  Cheesy

Weee Oooh! I had to take quite a few looks to figure out the construction on those fabulous beauties. Nice, very nice, terrific work, great design, just excellent. I can see why you were having a bit of a time with the curved binding, it looks perfect though. How did you make it work?

I was originally thinking I'd use a bronze-coloured fabric for the binding, but it didn't look very good. Eventually I realized that the leather would be best, but of course it doesn't behave at all like bias-tape!  I stitched the leather on by hand, after perforating it with an empty needle on sewing machine. (To keep the stitches more even.) But because the leather stretches a bit, I couldn't place the studs accurately, so I had to put each of them on individually as I reached that spot in the stitching. It really wasn't too time-consuming in the end.

Glad you like them, they're favourites of mine!

Love the tea cozy fabric. I'd buy yards of that if I found it!

Wulf

I was thrilled to find the tea cozy fabric for this swap and I did buy a litte extra for myself.  Wink

Anyway...the fabric even has a great name:  SEW NOW! SEW WOW! for Alexander Henry Fashion For Home Collection 2008.

I found it at Elegant Fabrics in Manhattan (on 40th Street, between 7th and 8th, if you're in the NY area).

I received my swap items from angelofmusic earlier this week. She sent 3 potholders & a toaster cover in my FAVE green/orange color combo. I love the patchwork pattern that she chose. They are all perfect in my kitchen!
This was my first craft swap and I want to say thank you to jennieingram for such wonderful organization and double thank you to angelofmusic for being such a great partner! I love craftster!

The potholders are lovely all nestled together.

The toaster cover is a perfect fit!

The package included a pretty little crafty note (my cat is obsessed with the buttons on the card).

What a lovely package!  Angelofmusic, what is the name of that block pattern?  It's really neat.  Smiley

Organizer note:  I have given feedback this morning to nearly everyone.  Please check the first page of this gallery thread, AND your profile to make sure the feedback is correct.  Make sure I have not done something silly like added a comment, but left you as "in progress", or anything else.  Those who have received, but not posted pictures have that listed as a temporary comment in their profile.  As soon as you post pictures, or contact me if you are having problems I don't know about, then it will be removed.

Thank you all for making this such a lovely swap, and for all your great communication!
