My current  project is making cat beds for our two kitties. (We had to throw out their old beds since our cat Noah got sick on both of the beds).
For the new cat beds I took apart an old hard shelled suitcase.

The suitcase is bright pink (which I think is great) however it clashes with the fabric I am using for the bed part so I am looking to paint it. Can anyone recommend a non toxic paint that I could use to paint the plastic hard shell of the suitcase (a paint with no vocs)? There is a store called Green Depot (www.greendepot.com) near us that carries some non toxic paints. I am planning to stop in and check out to see if they had a good paint to use. I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has a paint they have used for their pets you like?

Here are 2 pics of the beds in progress. I still have to finish sewing(and fitting) the cover and a few other things. I'll post pics when they are done.

Hmmm, I know there is acrylic non toxic paint. Did the Greenspot suggest anything? It's such a cute idea.

Thanks  Cheesy

They said that any of the paints they carry would be ok, and suggested I let it air out for a couple days before I give it to the kitties to be on the safe side. All of the paints they sell are zero voc which is really great. There is one brand I think I am going to go with called "Ivy Coatings" (it is an acrylic paint).

Ivy Coatings is made locally (in Brooklyn), so that was a plus for me. I couldn't decide on a color when I was in the store, so I am going to go back with samples of the fabric I am using to help decide what color.

I am really excited about this project and will post photos when I complete it. Hopefully this weekend. I know the kitties are probably anxious too!
