"Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have us send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, start by choosing a theme to the right." http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject

Th sketchbook itself if $25. For another $20 the project will scan each page and host a digital copy online to show off. I reaaallly want to do this that I may go against my better judgement and put the money forward.

I signed up for it too haha, oh, and they were also doing another project, the canvas project, it seemed pretty cool too, so I signed up for that one as well. What theme did you choose for your sketchbook? I chose 'Storybook' for mine.

I chose "This is not a sketchbook" since I tend to journal with lots of art. I couldn't find how many pages there are so I wanted a really loose theme to encourage myself to complete it.

I considered doing 'This is not a sketchbook', but lately when I journal I try to avoid doing art with it because it tends to be overly depressing, and when I'm upset while doing it, if I draw something, it'll just make me feel worse ^^;; (I have depression though soo...)

I love storybooks and such though, so I think the storybook theme is going to be good for me. ^_^ I already have a few ideas for it, I just don't know what medium(s) I want to use and if I want to do anime styled art or realism.

some pages in the back of the book they send are perforated, so you could tear them out if needed

Hmmm I considering doing this, though I fear I'd never get it done. I'm quite a slow artist and my artworks take quite a lot of time to do.

AmbiguousArtist I am in the same boat but I am still trying it. An incomplete book is at least something and it is so much fun and would be really cool to share this with my friends all over the country. With the tour they get to see some of my work first hand which they normally can't see. You should try it. There is a craftalong on the Misc boards if you really want to try.

This seems like a really cool thing to do! I am in a complete lack of money right now so I will not allow myself, but I noticed that the project is done again in 2011 Smiley I would really like to participate  Cheesy and I think some other people I know would also love it Smiley.
