Cheap and Transportable decorations?

Hi,

I just moved into a new place, it's campus housing (I'm tagging along while my boyfriend gets his masters), so I can't make any permanent changes. Do any of you brilliant craftsters have any ideas of how to make this white painted box feel like a home? I'd show you pictures, but they would bore you to death, white white white....

We will be moving out in August, so any decorations that would be easy to pack away and use at our next place would be ideal. It seems a little silly to decorate for a few months, but I know I'll feel better every minute I'm here if it was a homier.

These days I value simplicity a little more, but I still love bright colors and unusual stuff.
