Every time I go out to an "alternative/goth" night I see beautifully dressed women with these GORGEOUS mini tophat's.  I've searched the internet and found many a cute one that I've lusted after (hats not women Wink ) but been unable to afford.
So, being a Craftster I decided to make my own.  I had a satin and lace bolero I was never going to wear again so I had the material, but what could I use to make the hat base from; cereal box?; plastic bottle?; tin can?!
Then I looked over at the window sill and got my inspiration.  A small plastic flower pot and it's base, just like this one:

So I covered it in the satin, then the lace, added a train and red trim (had this also) and added some beads to attach it to my head (it ties under my chin).

And voila!! I had a cute mini tophat to wear that cost me nothing as everything was from things I already had Cheesy

This one looks more like a flower bud in real life, I tried to make it look as neat as I could Smiley

You can see the beads dangling from the tie under my chin

Noone guessed it was even home-made until I told them Cheesy

P.s. excuse the photos, they were taken before I went to the club, so I was trying to show my makeup too  Embarrassed

Awesome! I never would have thought of using a flower pot! I always tediously made mine from flimsy cardboard... cutting and making tabs and gluing and uuuggghhh!

The trim matches your hair perfectly (in the pictures, anyway). I love that... matching things make me happy.

It's gorgeous- I've also wanted a mini tophat but it's on my neverending list- perfect idea to use a plantpot! Also, your hair is gorgeous. Mine has been many colours but I'm growing out it's natural gingerness to give it a break.
