Scholarly Knit Owl

So I work on a L&D floor and everyone gets pregnant there (seriously there is something in the water  ). One of my co-workers is expecting and has a owl themed nursery. I decided to make an owl from a book I got called, "Knitted Tales Toys". He turned out pretty cool.



My sister took the picture for me (she's awesome at photography). Any suggestions or comment I get would be greatly appreciated!

He is really cute!  I like the colors you chose for him.  What yarn did you use?  I had never heard of that book, but I think I'm going to check it out.

ooo.. this is super cool.  My 4YO wears glasses and we're in need of a glasses "rest" type thing for him.  This would be perfect.

That's gorgeous!  My sister's baby girl has a birdie themed nursery and I have been thinking of making something that coordinates for it - it looks great!  I love the eyes and the pose the owl's got going on the most!

Adorable! What a fun and unique gift for a baby. He does look very scholarly . Was he knit in the round or did the project require loads of seaming?

I'm definitely going to have to check out that book. If the rest of the patterns are half as cute as this guy I need to have it!

I used some pretty soft acrylic yarn (lion brand yarn). He was going to be my practice owl, but he just turned out so darn cute I couldn't help it.

There was quite a bit of seaming, but it wasn't too bad. The body was knit as a whole piece then sewn in half. I also had to sew the beak, wings, and feet. So there was a little more than sewing than I would have like it. But totally worth it!
