I haven't had time to do much spinning this week so this yarn is a work-in-progress.

Spun from a beautiful honey-coloured merino to approximately laceweight, 5p coin for size reference. It isn't perfect but it is definitely my most consistent yarn to date. I have some lilac and pale blue merino that I plan to spin to the same weight and ply with it. Fingers crossed that my first attempt at plying will be successful and I will soon have some stripy yarn! Cheesy

What does everyone else have to show off this week?

I have finished my 100% Silk, came out very soft. It's very pale, green olive.
Also in progress, 3 colors from Bamboo that will ply togther, Blue, Red white. Hope to finish it this weekend. If not photos will be ready for next week Fiber Friday.

flower: Thank you! Cheesy

silversunalpacas: Mmm, I'm going to be hungry every time I look at my yarn now! Wink Yours is absolutely gorgeous! It looks like it has a fantastic lustre to it and I like how subtle the colour is. What was it like to spin?

Thanks Smiley

I spin a lot of Bamboo, so the silk is very similar. Less slipery than the Bamboo, staple lenght - very comfortable. But more chalenging than merino / Alpaca / regular wool, a lot of fun to spin.

Jrain i agree with silversunalpacas' icecream comparison, but it makes me think more of honeycomb than vanilla. or maybe custard....or creme caramels....delicious anyway!

Silversunalpacas i love the subtle shades you've got in there, it really makes the silky texture jump out at a person. Did you dye it?
I'm also glad to hear about the staple length and that the silk is easier to work with than bamboo, am hopefully going to be raiding the interwebs for some soon(ish).

Second round of hand-dyed roving, this is the most colour accurate photo i could get  Undecided The shades are a smidgen richer in r/l but that's about the only difference. Makes me think of lichen, but perhaps that's just fallout from my botany lectures. Huh

My shopping list now consists of ice cream and silk...! Wink

Azzarath: I'm afraid I don't know anything about lichen but the colours look like a blend of metals to me with the coppery-bronze bits and the silvery bits. It's really lovely!

Azzarath, I like Custard, it sounds more appealing Smiley

Yes, I dye the silk. I use acid dyes, it takes the colors so nice.

Your yarn is beautiful. Love the cold/warm colors. They do looks like metal. Very pretty

First fiber friday post for me, yay!

So this is a sock yarn I've spun and navajo plied from a handpainted superwashmerino/nylon top I got from a fiber club. I'm not quite satisfied with it; it seems I'm unable to be constitant with the thickness. I blame it on the fact I don't like synthetics. Tongue Pretty colours, though.
