My dad has everything he needs...which makes it impossible nearly to buy him anything for his birthday. I came up with a decent idea....to paint all the grandkids for him. I know he doesn't have this painting already!  Wink

This is the work in progress:

The finished piece:

Size is 11x17 cold pressed watercolor paper.... painted with a children's watercolor set that I'd bought for the kids. It's been a long time since I painted anything, so I just used what I had in our stash. It's not the greatest technically speaking, but I'm just grateful the little painted characters actually kind of resemble the actual kidlets!

I'll come back & let y'all know what he thinks of it when he gets it!  Smiley

This is amazing, and what a great gift! I know any grand-dad would love something like this. And I'm sure not many have something this amazing, and personal! He's going to love it.

Aren't they great? You really don't need anything fancy to make fun art!  Wink

I hope so! I'd be crushed if we went over to his house to find it in a closet... but I bet he'll even take it to work to show off.  Wink

You did a fabulous job! Children's faces are so hard to depict without looking ridiculous, in my opinion, and yours look adorable. He's going to love it.

I know what you mean! It wasn't easy! The 2nd one from the left has such pale skin, yet rosy cheeks...it was difficult to keep him from looking clown like! Thank you for the compliment!
Dad's birthday is in a few days...so I'll get back & update with his reaction. I'm getting excited now!  Wink

I *love* it! What a great idea -- and I especially love that there's lots of color (like the blue couch) but the kids, the main focus, *still* manage to *glow* right off the page.

Awesome job; I know he'll love it, and it's inspiring me to complete *my* ideas of painting similar family subjects, for my dad.

well done!
