Baby clothes quilt - my first quilt! (pic heavy)

My mom and I have been toiling away for the past week trying to get this started and finished for my daughter's upcoming third birthday. I did all sorts of hand-embroidered embellishments on it. I kept in the gatherings for where the dresses flare out, and ruffles on dresses, traced her hand and embroidered her age on it...we are just so proud!!!!! I'm so happy to have done something like this for her. It fits a twin bed.

This is awesome! I made one for my daughter two years ago - but I made crazy quilt squares (that were 11x11), and I used all the baby clothes I had that were non-heirloom. She loved it, and it was nice to be able to use all her clothes so they weren't wasted. I have to say, I like the way yours turned out better than the one I made - the small squares look better, and it must have been easier than doing the sashing in between.

hey foxyb.... you did great!....... I did one for my daughter for her 2nd birthday out of all her receiving blankets, the really soft ones from gymboree, the one she came home from the hospital in is the center.....anyway, she is 12 now and still uses it all the time, actually we all do... .............I'm sure your daughter will love hers just as much.

I love this sooooo much! I want to make one. I have always admired quilts but have never tried it. I really like how you left the embroidery and the ruffles. The added handprint is such a good idea. I'm gonna have to try one....by the way I love all your stuff you are very talented!!

that is so cool !!.i remember my nana making quilts for us & it was always fun to pick out the fabrics we recognized-mostly cuz she sewed alot of our clothes!.these things are truly heirlooms!

Thank you! I do hope she loves it forever. Up until now, she was using the baby quilt that my mom wrapped me with when I was a baby. I feel like I'm wrapping her in a hug. I really love the sentimentality of a quilt.
