I'm going to be a first time RA and i want to have a fun & eye catching theme for door tags (one for every resident with their name on it) & a duty board (that changes every day to say what RA is on duty)

Some of my ideas are Toy Story/ Mr. Potato heads, Penguins/Arctic, and Space.

Suggestions? Smiley

My best friends floor had a pretty cool theme..... actually I'm not sure what it was but I thought the tags were cool. Basically it was a clock looking thing that had food items instead of numbers and a hand that you could make point to any picture..... most of the residents write different activities over the pics to let people know what they were doing.... Or how about... crayons, owls, farmyard animals, hollywood, trees, back to school.... I just named a few random ideas that might inspire you....
Hope I helped a bit...

cartoons from when you were a kid!  i did this theme when i was an RA about 6 or 7 years ago, so a lot of my residents grew up watching cartoons in the late 80s / early 90s (gem, smurfs, strawberry shortcake, rainbow brite...).  you could have a different cartoon character/scene for each nametag and big cartoons on the wall.  and then you could have a "guess this cartoon" sort of game as your first icebreaker.  it was an easy theme that my residents enjoyed.

best of luck on your new RA job!

i have two things our RA did that me and my roomie really liked. One she did was the paint spinning where you spin the paper and put the paint and it goes swoosh. The other thing is after she got to know us a bit she went through magazines and found pictures that represented us and pasted them onto some cardboard and wrote our names and our room numbers on it. It was pretty awesome
