Since I had never taken an art elective my entire time is high school, and being interested in most art forms, I took on a ceramics class for my final trimester of senior year.
"Clay? Pshh easy-peasy," I thought.... I WAS WRONG! It takes some time to get used to all the different techniques and the consistency of clay! And glazing is pretty tough for me too, as I try to hurry and just end up with huge glops of mesy glaze
But, I digress! Here are my projects from my one and only art elective in high school! I liked it so much that I'm hoping to take another class either at our local center for the arts or in college!!

These are two bowls made on the wheel. I don't know the brand of glaze, but one is called "Melon," and the other is "Mardi Gras." I'm a sucker for awesome names
This is my FAVORITE project I made! It's an incense burner, and it's a combination project, with the vase-shaped part being pinch, the vine coil, and the plate and leaves slab.
This one was an "animal project," in which our only requirement was that we must make an animal of some sort using pinch construction and then we had to cut it in half and hollow it out. Soooo I made Hello Kitty! Because I'm obsessed
Another project had to be "food," of some sort. This one is titled "The Most Important Meal of the Day," for obvious reasons!
This one is called "Pretty Ugly," because, well, it is. It was my first time making a pinch pot, so needless to say it is not very smooth. And then for some strange reason the red glaze on the bottom never showed up at all the first time! So I reglazed and got this very strange effect, which some other kids likened to blood...?! Well, who knew ceramics was so violent?! XD
I have a tiny obsession over the city of Paris after my first and only visit, so here I used it in a slab carving (I don't know what to call this method of scraping out unwanted parts?) of the Eiffel Tower! It was the simplest thing I could think of really.
My two teacups, the red one slab contruction glazed "Firecracker," and the other coil glazed blue and purple. The coil one holds my collection of fortune cookie fortunes and the slab one holds embroidery floss!
I made this slump mould dish for my parents to put in their living room and matched the colors to the furniture and paintings. I rather like it, even though the inside was originally red and green, and looked like a Christmas vortex of misery and woe :O Looks better reglazed all pretty much green!
And finally one of the more intricate things I made was my "fantasy house" project. FML this thing sucked to make!
It's based on the nursery rhyme about the "old woman who lived in a shoe." There is one old woman, 15 children, a dog, a cat, and 3 toys on this baby! Talk about time-consuming!
This project is pretty crappy because I rushed through it, but I like the concept and I got a 100% grade on it. Oh well!
