Super Mario Brothers Party

My son's fourth birthday party (last week) was awesome. Even the parents had a great time. I made all the games and a lot of the party favors. Hope you guys like it as much as my son and his friends did!

Mushroom Invitations

Yoshi Eggs! Real eggs filled with confetti for the Yoshi's Egg Toss game. Got this idea from a video on YouTube.

Bowser after the eggs were thrown in his face!


Yours Truly leading the kids in a game of "Shy Guy Says" - like Simon says, but with red and white paper plates decorated like shy guys. Each kid got one and had to follow the rules, but when Shy Guy doesn't say to move and you move then you're out.

You can see in this picture the Mario visors that I made out of $1 visors. I also made Luigi and Princess Peach for the girls. The girl in the yoshi shirt is wearing a mustache above her lips. That mustache was sticky foam paper that was stuck to blo-pops so they looked like Mario suckers. (another idea from you tube.)

Bomb-omb! We used it to play hot potato. I turned my back while the kids passed the bomb and when I yelled "BOMB-OMB!" whoever was holding it pretended to blow up. They then got to yell Bomb-omb. The winner got the Bomb-omb. Made from a decorative ball that I bought at Wal-Mart on clearance. I sanded it and re-painted it.

Question Block plushie toss:

Assault Turnips for the girls to throw: (Each girl got to take one home)

Fireballs for the boys to throw: (Each boy got to take one home)


Party Bags (hand drawn)




Crayons with sticker paper over the boxes and hand drawn images on both sides. I left them blank for the kids to color. (The kids colored their own party bags while they waited for the other kids to arrive.)


Pin the Mustache on Mario! (He looks so weird without one!)


I never claimed to be a cake decorator! I ordered a blank cake from the bakery and attempted to personalize it myself. Oh well, my son's 4, he doesn't care for now. And the other kids were too young to mind. I didn't know black gel icing was so runny...

All of that is beyond amazing - I can't even pick a favorite part.  I want to play the egg toss game!  I might just have to plan this kind of party for my young-at-heart older brother lol!!  Thanks for the inspiration - so clever!

soooo amazing! I can't wait to have kids that I can make all sorts of crafty and dorky things for!

Also, you may want to take the beginners wilton cake decorating class if you live near a michaels. It's like $40 (plus I think a $20 kit that you get to keep all the supplies) but it was amazing. I learned to make my own icing, which is all the difference between professional looking and not. Your design looks great, but that might be the extra touch you need. (Or google the info, that would probably work too lol)

I absolutely wanted to have a mario bridal shower...but my grandma said it was too weird....

Thank you all so much! My apartment is still a wreck and has looked like Hobby Lobby threw up in it for several weeks.

I started about two weeks before the party and made two or three things every night. I procrastinated though, and left a bunch for the night before. That night, I lost sleep!

You are so welcome! I posted these photos on my fb page and several of my friends wanted me to make a Mario Party for them. I say go for it.

This is a great idea! I really appreciate the tip. There is a Michael's in the next town over, so I'll look it up. Yeah those Betty Crocker Icings in a tube that you buy at the grocery does not do what you want it to do.

WOW this is great! I wish I had parties like this when I was that age!  You really put a lot of effort and detail into everything! I love it!... You'll have been fun finding the confetti months possibly years later:P a great reminder of how cool of a party you threw!
