I must have bookmarked a million different fabric/ribbon flower tutorials while prepping for this swap. I ended up using this one for the flowers:

http://couturesmith.com/2008/11/30/flower-power-a-tutorial/

They were so simple and it was kind of magical how they went from triangles to flowers by just pulling on the thread. I used satin for the ones in sugaree's swap package. I also made one with some chiffon which didn't turn out quite as nice, hence it did not make the cut for the shirt or the extras. I used doubled-up regular thread and a beading needle to attach the beads to the center of each flower and scraps of craft felt to hide the raw edges. Sew the pin or snap or clip or whatever to the felt BEFORE you attach it to the flower, learned that lesson the hard way! I also fray-checked the raw edges before the felt application just because.

Enjoy!

Hey guys! I know it's really frustrating when someone flakes but lets try to keep an open mind. There may have been an emergency or a personal reason why she flaked. I have no doubt in my mind the gourds were awesome because my oh my do you have some mad skills! Everything is amazing in the gallery-let's focus on the positive of the swap and all it's fine goodies!

The roses are beautiful and so is that tank top!

Loved the birdie purse and the cute nightmare story! It is fabulous fabric that can make another swap partner (or yourself!) very happy!

I also think the fingerless gloves are the best things ever invented for cold hands that need to work!

Amazing stuff...

I have received from the very talented Kayrun. The main item is this fantastic shawl made from Malabrigo in an Ostrich Plume design.

I had trouble getting a good shot which really showed the colour, even with an improvised light box. It is a gorgeous red brown.

Picture of not just the shawl but some beautiful polyclay logs which she appears to have bought from etsy so I can have a play with them. Throwing me in the deep end here, a bit I think. I might hyperventilate a bit about the thought of cutting into them. Also, some lovely notecards and what I'm assuming is the rest of the ball of yarn. I will have to investigate clutch patterns to go with my shawl.

To try and show the length of the shawl.

A close up.

Thank you so much for being my swap partner, Kayrun, I am so happy with everything.  Grin
