I have been experimenting with various materials recently. This is one of my experiments that I am relatively pleased with...

The roses I made with polymer clay. I had some trouble coming up with the red that I wanted, but I got fairly close with this very deep, dark red (the picture looks a tad orange, but it really isn't).

I had really wanted dark green stones for this, but the jade beads I had my heart set on were SO expensive... so I "settled" for some stones on sale (I was grumpy that I had to settle - which is probably why I don't remember what these are... Roll Eyes). I am actually very pleased with them now - they are a very pretty light green stone with dark green streaks (reminds me a bit of moss agate, but I am not sure).

(This is my first post of my work so I have a quick question... is it normal to be this nervous? Grin)

No, I like the lighter green - they let the deep red of the roses stand out more.  It looks very nice.  So the roses are made from PC - that is awesome.  At first I thought they were fabric - you did a great job on them.

very pretty, welcome! I am glad that you are posting this is fantastic.

i have a question, when you are wearing it, does it stay sitting properly on your neck, as in your picture, or does it move so that the roses end up pointing down?

This delicate beauty deserves a close up shot!

That rose is exquisite!

The lighter green, in my opinion, is wonderful with the deep red. You don't want it to look too "Christmas-y", and a darker green might do that. I think your stone choice was perfect.

Well done!

This is lovely!  I'm kinda scared of poly clay...I'm no good at sculpting, I can't draw or paint either.  If I can't trace it, I can't do it.  I admire folks like you that can!

Thanks for all of the nice comments! I really appreciate them!! I will try to get a close up shot of the roses if the sun ever decides to visit us... I tried with the flash and they all came out blurry.

i have a question, when you are wearing it, does it stay sitting properly on your neck, as in your picture, or does it move so that the roses end up pointing down?
That is something that I am working on. It depends on who is wearing it and at what length (the strands are individually clasped so there is some flexibility in length and how the strands lay)- it does tend to flip for my daughter (who was the model for this picture) when wearing it at that length or longer. It does not flip as much on me unless I bend over to pick something up (because I am larger and have a fuller chest it lays differently on me). I am going to attach the beads a bit higher up on the flowers next time I make this, and probably try weighting the bottom of the pendant a bit more. Any suggestions would be welcome!
