Anyone else work in the health care industry interested in doing a swap.  We are a group of innovative and creative people who often have to think quickly and outside the box to provide the care that we do.  Many of us probably craft/create to express some of that creative side.  Or, to relieve stress and take your mind off the work!  Or to help wile away some of those long long night shifts....

I think it would be nice if we did a swap just for us.  So if you are a doctor/dentist/nurse/OT/PT/EMT/dentist/RT/LPN/RNA/RPN/lab tech/vet/vet assistant (hey, pets get health care too!), etc,  and are interested in doing something specialy for ourselves to thank us for the care we provide others, let me know.

Wouldn't it be nice to sexy up those plain uniforms and lab coats with some embroidary, a sparkly bejeweled ID lanyard, a stethoscope cozy, cool scrub caps, funky nametag pins, fantastic pens, notepads, etc?  Or heck, toss that ugly green scrub top for something totally fabulous instead?

I know I would just about kill for awesome, custom scrubs Wink

Anyone else interested in this idea?

I think this is a cool idea. I just finished my STNA class up.  I am now a CNA and will be trying to take my state test soon. Smiley

I work in a hospital cafeteria and I'm going back to school in July for Pharmacy technician.  I'm not sure what I would be able to craft or what would be good for a pharm tech to receive, but this sounds fun

I'd be totally up for this! I work in an NHS hospital as a pharmacist so I could totally come up with ideas for your pharmacy tech work, providing you do the same sort of thing we do here in hospitals. :-/

It doesn't have to be directly work related - it could be fun stuff about your work.  I am thinking voodoo dolls and stress balls would be an idea too Cheesy  My sister's a pharmacist too.  A coupld of BILs are docs.  I have nursing aunts in the States, a cousin that is an RT, another cousin is either RPN or an unregulated care provider in a nursing home.  I can never remember which.  I'm an RN, and I had a bad week at work and wanted to craft something to relieve some of my own stress (a dartboard comes to mind....)

Also, this may be a good opportunity for people who do various jobs to educate others on what they do, or from different health care systems, etc.

For example, I practice in a teaching hospital in Canada, and my American SIL, who was a nurse too, had some terrible misconceptions about the health care system here, such as being told that we leave the elderly to die and not provide them care.  Ridiculous, considering the average age of the patient on my medical unit is 85 years old.

I think that this swap would be an awesome idea! I'm not a nurse or doctor of any kind but my sister is a nurse in a retirement home and I know she always prefers scrub shirts and things that are homemade over the store bought stuff!

I would be really interested in seeing the cool things you guys come up with!

I used to love to wear Old Navy PJ bottoms or Disney PJ bottoms because they were scrub-like, just for some colour and fun.  I used to also wear a lot of hair bling to add colour too.  That was when I started and had more energy though Sad

I'm a tech in the ASF (Ambulatory Surgury Facility) ie same day surgery, and I float in the OR. We're required to wear uniform color, but we jazz it up with hair bling, surgery caps and funky name tag holders.... hoping to start RN school next year so could totally use some fun crafty stuff to keep me sane! I applaud all health care providers and tho I know it can get crazy some days I still wanna be an RN lol!  Hoping this gets off the ground....

Not a lot of interest right now, but we could keep it a small group?

Hm... it seems like a busy summer for swaps.... I think small would be perfectly okay tho.  Maybe after it slows down a bit? or if people see what kinds of things could be made there would be more interest?
