What to do with Flipflops, Flipflops and more Flipflops!?

I don't know about most people but I go threw tons of flipflops and not just in the summer time. I love these toesless wonders and come summer time when Target and OldNavy have them I always buy some. I wear them out really well before they get to the point of unwearable. Even then sometimes my mother has to rip them off me cause she thinks they are past there prime and very well ripe LOL. But what can I do with the when they retire? I hate putting so much plastic into a land fill but I have no ideas. Do you?

I am making a summer wreath for my door out of flip flops ...this may well be better in theory than in practice but we will see

Cut them up and wire them together to make a doormat! Or a trash can!

I saw a video about children in a developing country who scavenged flip flops which washed up on the beach near their village.  They cut them up into small parts and glued them back together to make rainbow coloured little creatures like crabs and bright fish.

This same technique could be good.  You could use the colours of the different pairs to make different things.  For example, if you had red, white, black and pink you could make santas and lots of random colours could make flowers.
You could make christmas ornaments or mobile which you could hang up at different times of the year.

1.I like the idea of a wreath but by the time I'm done with my flipflops they aren't too pretty LOL I don't know if I want them at nose level. It would definitely be cute made with little kid sandals, they would be just the right size.
2.I love the idea of a door mat. I like making functional stuff.
3.Making animals out of them would be the most intriguing. That would take some thought but I bet they would be so cute XD

Google "flip flop rug" or "mat" and see people have made mats out cut up pieces of them

Sew them together to make swimming floats, that foam floats really well . . .

I really like the idea of the flip flop wreath! Maybe wash them up, and paint them with acrlic paints to make them bright again.

I know this is super late. But I made stamps out of my old flip flops. I just used scissors and an exact o knife and they worked wonderfully. The texture gave them this really cool vintage look too.
