I'm about a third done now. Wheee. Using two-strand chain stitch for the majority of it and some of the finer details are still difficult. Not superhappy with 'em, but have tried and tried and they're the best they're gonna get at this size! A little bigger and I'd be fine... ah well, it IS a tiny thing!

Note for partners: I have gauged ears, so classic earrings don't really work for me. Smiley

Ok, I know of Sublime Stitching and Urban Threads, but is there more sites that provide hand embroidery patterns, that are download-able?  I like UT best, for some reason, but I'm itching to see what else is out there and my search engine is NOT cutting it.
You could try here: http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/06/free-hand-embroidery-patterns-index.html

And actually, looking up coloring book pages for the subject you want to embroider will return good results too.

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Oooo!  I love that link!  Those are just the type of patterns I've been wishing for!  Oddly enough, I hadn't thought of using coloring books for patterns.  Thanks for the tip!

I haven't been following the thread all that well, as haven't been getting notifications on top of computer problems, but have you looked at this thread? http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=8201.870

OK - so...  bummer.  I'm not sending this week like I had kinda sorta planned on.  Someone at home wants to see the project before I pack it up and send it on its way.  Which is fine because I have to go back to NC for the weekend and I'll send it out probably Tuesday of next week (I'm expecting the PO to be closed on Monday for the Fourth of July).  But I'm still excited that its done.  Cheesy
