I massively dislike those abbreviations, who calls their kids "Dear Son" and "Dear Daughter"? It's annoying Cheesy.

Yeah, when I figured out what that ment it didn't sit too well with me either, but then for some reason I started mentally reading it as darling daughter/son and for some reason it sounded better lol.

LoL. Seeing as I have no ambition to be a mother to any REAL babies, just fur babies, then yeah, I can see kids as darling even when throwing fits because it's not a 24/7 thing for me  Wink That makes it easier.

I've got a good start on my project but hit a glitch, so I'm waiting to figure that one out.

Ffrogg, how lucky you are to have such a supportive hubby!!  I think he definitely qualifies for 'Dear Husband' or 'Darling Husband'! Smiley

I have a friend who uses the abbreviations but says they stand for "dork", "doofus", "delightful" or "dedicated" (along with the dear/darling), depending on her mood and how badly the children have misbehaved.  Cheesy Cheesy

MAN I just cannot get started on this embroidery in a way I like!  I keep ripping it out and starting over.  I think I have to just admit it's not going to be *perfect* and go with it.  Roll Eyes My quest for perfection is in direct contradiction for my love of procrastination, and my inherent laziness.  Grin Grin Grin

I do have two airplane flights coming up here soon, so I'll be able to get in a chunk of dedicated stitching time. And some waiting-in-the-airport time. But I won't be mailing out until very close to the deadline, I can tell!

I'm not a fan of the abbreviations either. MiL and FiL are useful because those are long to type out and you're shortening their proper form, but who would type out 'dear husband'? Cheesy To each their own!

My husband is also super supportive of my crafting. I'd barely finished a few embroidery doodles to learn stitches and he asked when I'd start embroidering things onto his Dickies work shirts for him.

Do you think of them as darlings though? I only think of them that way when they're sleeping like the little angels they certainly are not during the day Cheesy.

I call them that when I'm trying to be sarcastic towards them :p

Thanks for all the answers everyone!  I didn't mean to spark an entire page of conversation about the abbreviations.   Wink  I refer to my students as darlings or angels but in a wonderfully sarcastic way.  And on some occasions they actually are pretty awesome.   Cheesy

I'm almost done!  yay!  Trying to decide if I should           a certain part of it.  Anywho - if I don't finish it tonight I'll most certainly finish it tomorrow while the hubby's at work.  Then I'm onto part 2!!!  Huzzah!

Still recovering from a busy week. Need to review my notes and start stitching, just afraid of messing up.  Fighting myself is usually what takes the most time.  Well, and the fact that I just found another element to try and sneak in. Wink

I finally got started tonight, then had to rip all that I did out.  The fabric that I chose was perfect for the design I picked, but not so great for embroidery.  It had a life of its own and my stitches went all wonky.  Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

( And I completely agree about those annoying abbreviations)

Oh HUZZAH, I have just had a breakthrough, I think I can start stitching this week finally - I learned a new technique that will do exactly what I've been looking for!

Woo hoo hoo!   Grin
