I think this is the first thing I've ever crocheted where I had to make up a stitch.  I'm not totally sure if I have actually invented anything, but it was new to me, so...

I made this baby blanket using scraps of Bernat Satin I had (it worked out well because the stripes kept the various dye lots apart Cheesy)

Anyhow, here it is:

It measures about 33" across, 28" long, and it took me about 2 days to make (my pinky on my right hand is smarting a little now... I may have over done it. lol) Oh, and I blew through approximately 4 balls of stash yarn. Yay!

And here is a close-up of the stitches:

(No pattern for this yet, not sure if/when I'll have it!)

It looks like a variation of a single crochet pattern. I have a pattern that is very close to what you did, see how it matches up:

chain multiples of 2
R1-2 sc in 4th ch from hook, *skip next ch, 2 sc in next ch; rep from * across, turn
R2-ch2, skip first sc, 2 sc in next sc, *skip next sc, 2 sc in nextsc; rep from * across, turn
Repeat R2 for pattern

What ever you did, it was a great way to use up odd/leftover yarn! looks very cozy.

That's not the pattern I used, but I just tried it out, and it does look neat!  Thanks for posting it. ^_^

two days? I think I need to learn to crochet faster...

It looks beautiful, actually...I love that there are no holes for little fingers to poke through...the colors are nice together...and all from stash...great job!

I *have* to crochet this fast, or I'll never keep up with my stash acquisition. ^_-
