Last week I pimped my balcony since summer finally arrived and I can get some actual use from it and not as extra storage/beer cooler space.

I put in the wooden plates on the floor and covered the ugly fence with a reed "mat" found in a gardening store.

The finished result:

I looked everywhere for a bench with storage (to keep planters, dirt and, well, softd rinks and beer), but no no avail. So I made one myself from this:

I think the box itself is from my grandpa and the shelf is an old IKEA storage thing I disassembled and put back with the boards closer together. Then there was a lot of polishing, oiling and painting before it was suddenly done and fitted perfectly. The pillows I found in storage at our country house. Yay for free things!

What a cute way to update an otherwise ugly and semi-useless space. I love the privacy the mats offer, and the storage bench is a really great idea. Great work making a super-cute space-- it looks like the perfect spot to sit in the evening with a cold drink. Smiley

I thoroughly want a balcony for this, too!

I love my hubby, but the Army doesn't pay enough for my crafty habit!

This is brilliant!! You've completely inspired me to spiff up my own balcony! It looks so pretty! And I am in love with your pillows, the fabric is simply gorgeous!

Personal swap? Yes please! Looking for jersey scraps.

Now this is a place where I'd like to chill out during the summer. Can you imagine sitting there during a sunset?

OMG. Love? <3

Now if only you can find a way to get rid of those pesky bloodsuckers.... Cheesy

This is SOOOO great.  Places by my house have similar useless-ugly balconies.  What a great way to create a space that you can use!

Congrats on making Crafter's FB page. Wow! I love your porch. I love the color scheme. The little table is so perfect and I love the little bench. My favorite is the reed mat. I think that is perfect.
