Hello everyone!  I am new to craftster, but after all the wonderful inspiration I have already gotten from browsing the posts here, I felt I should contribute a little something myself Smiley  Please bear with me, as this is my first time posting links or images - let me know if there are any difficulties.

I was married in July of '07, and the inspiration for my dress came largely from Eowyn's White Wool Gown in LOTR The Two Towers, tons of pics here:  http://www.costumersguide.com/eowyn_ww.shtml

Since I was getting married in Hawaii in the summertime, however, I wanted something lighter and a little more "floaty", so I drew more inspiration from this dress at Rivendellbridal.com:  http://rivendellbridal.com/CelticStar.html

I used McCall's M4491 http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m4491-products-414.php?page_id=493 with some major alterations.  I added a train with a single point ribbon-tied underbustle, changed the lower sleeves to be a little longer with an open seam, added a "V" shaped sort of mock-belt at the waist in blue to coordinate with the bridesmaids' dresses, a band of the same blue around the hem, and instead of a zipper I wanted a lace-up back. I added some light beadwork around the neckline, waist, upper sleeves, down the back lacing, and along the dress hem.  I would have liked to have done more, but I did not have time.

The main part of the dress is an off-white silk dupioni, the lower sleeves and veil are silk chiffon in the same color, and the waist and hem are accented in blue satin.  The body of the dress is lined with a lightweight china silk.  Here is how it turned out.

Me in the gardens after the ceremony - doesn't show the hem.

Wedding party - the colors are kind of off in this photo from being scanned.

Close up of veil and neckline;

Unfortunately the only pic I have of the back of the dress.  Also unfortunate, I did not get one of the train laid out Sad

And a few more just for fun, and because I am pretty proud of it Smiley

Please feel free to leave comments or criticisms.  It's been long enough now that I have been able to forget what a nightmare it was to make this, and am able to just sit back and enjoy it Smiley  Looking back, there are some things I would have done differently, including adding more beading details and perhaps something more detailed on the veil as well.  I may do this for an anniversary party we plan to have next year....  All in all, I think it turned out pretty nice.  Thanks for looking, and happy crafting!  Smiley

That is absulutely Gorgeous! Is that emboidery or beading on the belt? The back view is beautiful - it must have taken ages to finish!
You look like a very cute and happy couple!

Wow!  That is so pretty!  I got married to my ex in Hawaii, too, but didn't have the time to make my dress!  Sad  That is simply stunning!

Wow! A beautiful dress, and I am very impressed with how well it fits you.  That must have been a ton of work.  Getting the fit that perfect is so fussy, but it definitely shows.  It looks great!
