Heya! I know this isn't perfect and you can see my bruise where I pinched a nerve and 2 ant bites! Haha! Oh well, that just proves that I use my hands.
I used fairly translucent colors for this look. The flash of course makes them look a little more translucent than they are, they're actually pretty even looking. It's the first time I've ever done it so I think they're pretty awesome! Cheesy
I used this tutorial by MissChievous who is actually a make up artist that I watch on youtube and have learned a lot from. Smiley You should check her out!
Starry Sky Gradient Nails Tutorial

Here's my version:

Tape off your nails because you're going to be sponge painting your nails! (Who can live at that speed? Crazy ideas!) LOL

Paint your nails with your base color. Of course it'll be way easier to start with a light color and go to dark. This orange is actually so pale that I painted 2 layers close to the base of my nail.

Lightly sponge your next color slightly above the base. I forgot to take a picture of my next color, but it's just a slightly darker translucent purplish pink.

When your nails are dry carefully peel off the tape and add a top coat.

This version was pretty simple and I'm totally looking forward to trying more color combos!!  Grin

Products:
Orange-
Sally Girl Satsuma (I really love this orange, it's so pale and feminine)
Pink-
LA Colors Bright Pink
Purplish Pink-
Sally Girl Dreamy (this one is a nice translucent color that looks AWESOME over glitter polish)
Purple
Nina Ultra Pro (the name and number are rubbed off Tongue )
Clear Coat
Wet & Wild

Tape
Makeup Sponge
I touched up with some polish remover

This are pretty cool looking! I really like the different colors.

lol, I always wondered how girls kept the polish from getting all over their fingers and toes. I always just slap it on there, and then scratch it off my skin in the shower. Definately using tape the next time.

Love it, I used to do my nails with this color scheme (with a different technique) and then paint a couple of black palm trees silhouetted against the sunset. I used to get so many compliments on it!

You nails look like one of those wonderful tropical drinks! ha ha

or a gorgeous sunset...I would never have thought to use tape to keep my skin from getting all painted up...about how long does it last with the top coat and all?  Can you touch it up easily?

I love this so much!  Thanks for sharing.  I have a question about applying the polish with a sponge.   How do you do it?  Do you pour the polish directly onto the sponge or do you use some sort of palette?  Is the sponge wet to start?  Do you use the same spot on the sponge with each colour change to get it blended right?  Or do you use a clean spot/sponge each colour?

Sorry, not really a question.  More like a series of them.
