I created this MASSIVE pen/pencil roll for jennilocker as part of an angel package I did for the Fill a Purse Swap Round 5. She said she gets a lot of pens and markers and stuff from her workplace and they are all currently languishing at the bottom of her purse...so....when making and filling her purse with goodies I made this roll for her.
All rolled up. Stays together with a glorified hair scrunchie
LOL! It's elastic covered with a heavy duty twill so it will stand up to large amounts of use.
A peek inside at the pockets. This took a LOT of washable markering, sewing, and tying off ends for all the dividers. WHEW!
The whole spread! Will hold 21 pens/pencils/markers...hell, even paint brushes if you need it to
Some of the wider pockets that have the Velcro on them can hold 2 or 3 items, so there's a potential for an additional 6-9 items on top of that 21.
Home dec weight IKEA fabric was used to make this. 3 Velcro patches keep the flap down so you can roll it and secure with scrunchie. Top stitched all around, wrong sides together with the finished pocket on top. All raw edges serged with a tight chain for what I thought was a neat look. Made construction time less than half of what I would have spent with sewing, cutting excess and corners, flipping, pushing tight corners, etc.
I SO love this print, and if I had a need to store large amounts of pens/pencils/paintbrushes I would be all over making another one of these for me.
