Ive no idea who Leonard Cohen is but the box is really cool and the bag is so pretty!

You may not have heard of him, but chances are you have heard his lyrics - many artists have covered his work, and made them popular again over and over in the media.  For example, the song, Hallelujah has beencovered by many people, including Rufus Wainwright.

His lyrics have amazing depth of meaning and grace; truly poetry to music.  Try to get a chance to listen to a song or two.  My personal favourites are the song on the box (Dance Me to the End of Love), There Ain't No Cure For Love, and Everybody Knows - and I haven't even listened to his entire discography.

I received my beautiful package from SouthernStitcher today and I am so excited about everything...... So I will start with pics......

First off here is my package when I opened it... I removed some pretty paper which you will see in next pic but the glow worm was so cure looking up at me that I had to take a pic!

Here are the packages before I opened each of them

Isn't it all very pretty
Please notice the decopaged recipe box at the top right of the pic!  LOVE IT.. Great yellow color and so well done!

And here is everything unwrapped....

Oh I was so excited about everything!  The large fleur de lis stamp made me giggle cause it is so awesomely big!
Please note the embroidered owl in the middle is an awesome magnet!
There is a wonderful pin cushion mason jar with buttons that I was excited about because I had failed on making my own!
There is a hand made journal with the pretty sunflowers on the left.... SO CUTE and perfect... it was her first time!
Do you see my glow worm peaking out!  It is her song craft which is so sweet!
There were pralines and a small pecan pie which I am going to go eat right now Smiley Love it all and have already purchased the fabric for project box 3 and box 2 is in the works soon!

I HAVE A WONDERFUL PARTNER AND AM SO GRATEFUL! Smiley

Well, I grew up listening to lots of jazz and swing music from the 40's and 50's.  No, I'm not THAT old, but my Dad loved all the old stuff!  The song "Glow Worm" was recorded by a group of brothers that went by the Mills Brothers.  They heavily influenced other entertainers like Dean Martin.  If you search for The Glow Worm by the Mills Brothers on You Tube, there is a couple of cool old videos of them signing this song, (watch the one from 1966), and also you'll see a video of them on the Dean Martin Show.   So this is what came up when I shuffled my Ipod.  Right alongside Led Zeppelin, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Reba, and all sorts of other artists all so different from one another!

I have a closer up shot of the recipe box if anyone wants to see it.

Ill check him out!  Thanks!  I love finding artists to listen to as Im horribly uninformed when it comes to music.

What is the random song about the gloworm?

I know my partner already answered your question but I also wanted to say that I remember hearing this song when I was growing up.... and my parents and grandparents singing it.... we both grew up in Louisiana so I don't know if that had more to do with it or of our families had similar musical tastes..... but I totally remember it.... Is a really sweet song.... great to sing to kids if anyone is interested!!!!
