I love, love, love using old and/or thrifted clothing for bags and totes!  For me, the thrift store is like a super discount fabric store.  Smiley  My goal is to use recycled fabrics in such a way that they don't look recycled.  This messenger is made from 100% reclaimed fabrics, plus a thrift store zipper.  Can you guess what I recycled to make this bag?   Wink

The shimmery outer pink fabric was a skirt, and the plaid fabric was an ugly granny shirt.  The sweet pink ticking lining was a curtain, and there's a little jeans pocket, too.  I first learned to make messenger bags with gloriana's fabulous messenger bag tutorial, and I learned to make zippered pockets with SewPixie's tutorial.  (Thank you, ladies, for sharing so much with us!)

I hope you like this (my teen daughter does, and has already claimed it!) and are inspired to create some reclaimed bags for yourself!  Thanks for looking.  Smiley

Great job!
The bag is beautiful.
Just like you, I love working with thrifted materials. I feel like it gives your projects more character (including one or several pasts). And I love the challenge of turning something 'old' into something new and unexpected.

This is beautiful! I do think I would like to try my sewing skills by making a bag like this. The thrift store is an awesome treasure trove of recyclables.

This is a really great design. I would never have guessed at all what you made it out of. I've never repurposed thrift clothes into bags, only tableclothes and things. Excellent work, and your seams are well hidden and crisp.

What a beautiful bag! Love the colors and the fact that it's entirely made of reclaimed material. How cool is that?
