My little nephew LOVES to play in the garage with daddy! But garage = dirty little wrench monkey and with him potty training pants are at a premium. So I took an old work shirt and made him some mechanic style coveralls. Mommy was thrilled!

I took the pockets off the front of the original shirt and added them to the side of the legs so he has lots of storage for tools and other finds.
There is also an elastic strip in the back so that they don't look so ginormous and shapeless on the little guy. The collar is originally from the shirt so it is a bit big but its kinda cute that way!

The original shirt

Thinking about making some more for other litte guys...there's so much cute stuff out there for girls, boys just seem to get a bit neglected for clothes.

Thanks for looking comments and question are welcome!

I just made my girl some fleece coveralls for my girl, who like to go play in the shed with daddy.  No where near as cool as yours tho!  Grin

Oh, goodness! I think these may be my favorite item ever from the kids' clothing board. You MUST put up some pictures of him in them, and I'd love to know if you used a pattern/what it was/any info you can give on it. I think I'm going to have to make some of these, a lot of them! I could probably go on for a page and a half with how much I like them.

His mom (my sister in law) took some pictures the other day but with a regular camera....so I have to wait....sigh...

I have been playing with projects from "Sew & Go Baby" by Jasmine Hubble which I found for like $3 at Half Price books with all the pattern pieces
(also available on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Sew-Go-Baby-Collection-Practical/dp/0873415582) and its a pattern for a romper/sleeper/one piece wonder suit. You could probably get away with tracing some of the kiddo's current clothes as its are really basic shape with only 3 pattern pieces (front, back, and sleeves) I added a strip of elastic on the back to because the little guy isn't wearing a diaper as much so things don't have to be as bulky and also left out the snaps along the crotch. Getting the collar to fit was one of the hardest things since it came from the original shirt and I've never done a collar like that before...or any real collar for that matter.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments! I have alot of fun making stuff for other people's kids, and will probably be working on another of these for a friend's little guy.
