Here is the recipe for the snackie mix I sent to hawkeyes_girl (sorry it took me so long). I thought perhaps some of you could use this    :


Super-Charged Snack Mix
Adapted from Patricia Telesco’s “A Kitchen Witch’s Cookbook”

2 cups plain salted popcorn
2 cups Barbara’s Shredded Spoonfuls cereal
      (you can substitute any flavor Chex but I love these)
1 cup pretzels
1 cup small cheese crackers
1/3 cup butter
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes Tabasco Chipotle hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl or bag, mix the snack pieces; spread on a cookie sheet. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Pour over the ingredients on the cookie sheet and mix until well coated. Spread evenly and bake 15 minutes. Cool. Makes about 6 cups.

Pretzels have been a popular food for fire festivals and were often shaped specifically to honor the sun. Corn is symbolic of divination, plenty and vitality. Spices add potency and protection.
