ysmeine's idea sounded cool, and I also like the furniture idea. I think clothing would be cool, but if it wasn't made out of something durable or just reclaimed fabric, I think it would defeat the purpose because after you make a skirt out of newspaper, you're going to take pictures in it and get rid of it eventually....if you recycle it, then I guess it doesn't matter, but reusing is more eco-friendly!

I vote for useful re-purposing, instead of making something for the sake of making it.

Here's another vote for a useful repurpose challenge. I love seeing upcycling that makes sense. Turning outdated clothing into something you'd wear regularly, or giving a discarded piece of furniture/appliance/etc a new life.

Can't wait to see what it is!

hmmm, I like the ideas listed!

Maybe instead of what can you make out of ____ material, list a finished item to see all the various things that can be made out of. My example is gift wrap~to see what people use to wrap a gift (reusable fabric bags, bits of plastic/paper/fabric/whatever to wrap it, interesting "ribbons" made from all kinds of stuff that might usually be thrown out)

I LOVE that idea.

All the suggestions were great.

I was thinking it would be interesting for a change to have a challenge using a specific material and the challenge would be to use it to create as many different items as possible. For example if the item was a milk carton(any size), then I could photograph it being used as a bun/hotdog warmer, solar cooker, bird feeder, pen organizer, candle mold, plant starter, party favor, loaf pan(untried, not sure if it would work), herb saver.

Iron Craftster! It's perfect! Smiley I'd be in.

i think i would be interesting to see what can be made of packing that you get when you buy diffrent products. such as milk cartons, diffrent plastic and glass containers etc. instead of just recycling, what can they be made into? I like this because it is "free" and plentiful material in our societies

how about these ideas

a. using garbage only to make something, eg only using stuff that you would throw away/recycle
b. I like the certain fabric/item remade into something lasting
c. Something totally unthinkable into something useful, eg tyres
d. upcycled clothes( as suggested)
e.an unusual use for certain items, eg phone books into a side table
f. recycled beauty containers( did this yesterday)
g. repurposed furniture ( as suggested)
h. recycled garden scraps, do you throw out those seeds that you could plant and turn into a tree?
i. old crockery into_______?
j. clothing thats to small into something that fits and you would wear now.
k. clothing to big into something that fits and you would wear now.
L. something to keep you warm/cool from recycle items
m. creative ways to spritz up your home without paint and using recycled items that you already have.

ok I am tapped out for ideas now, I am sure more will come.

I love all those that have already been suggested too.

Pixieval congrats on becoming a mod you so deserve it.

I have to do the same thing pixieval! My daughter grows upwards faster than she grows out so I turn many of her pants into shorts or capris so that she's not wearing high-waters! Smiley

I also have plans to turn some clothes that I no longer wear into stuff for her. I still have shirts from when I was in high school that are cute, just not age-appropriate for me anymore. If only I had more time ! Smiley
