so when i saw the pattern by maria merlino for the sacred heart crochet block, http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=343458.0, i knew i had to make it, but i didn't know what to do with it if i crocheted it. so after pondering for a while, i thought, hey, i could so cross stitch that! and with mother's day coming up, i knew it would be a great present for my mom. after much tweaking, coloring, and erasing in paint, i transferred it to pcstitch, added some words, and the perfect mothers day gift was born. it was thrifty too. the cloth and floss i had in my stash, i picked up the frame at goodwill for $2, and then my aunt, who is an expert stitcher, kindly framed it for me. it looks much nicer in real life. i used multi colored floss for the flames in orange and yellow, and the the heart was multi colored red. sadly, i forgot to sign it and take pictures before it was framed, which i guess is okay, because it was all wrinkly and unattractive. so here it is.

and my mom just loved it. here she is with the finished product.

c&c welcome, and a big thanks to maria merlino for sharing such a great pattern!!
