MareMare, I think I might be a member of the Guild you are talking about, but have never been to a meeting as I live two hours away. Are the meetings fun? Educational?

I've only been to one so far, I missed the first meeting and the next one is this Thursday! They are definitely fun, we did a swap, had some show-and-tells, had a raffle for a quilting book, and got some free stuff! Also one of the members gave a demonstration on some really cool potholders that are kind of like Cathedral windows!

ETA: This week we're doing charm packs and the president just asked me to give a presentation on charity quilts! Eek!

ALRIGHT - you go girl! Wish I could make it!

And if we wanted to make placemats to match our potholders, here is more inspiration:

Ok, we need to nail down some of what people are thinking for specifics here...

Swapping 2 or 3 quilted potholders?

Potholders and placemats?

How long would people like for crafting?  3-4 weeks?

As work has just wound down, I'm happy to start sign-ups anytime now, provided I have a good idea of what people would like for requirements...

I can't quilt, I was thinking of doing knitted potholders.  I think it should just be 2 or 3 potholders, and the kind of potholder it is should be up to the individual swapper.

I like 3-4 weeks crafting time, and think three potholders is a good amount. I'd be quilting mine because I just checked out Patchwork Style from the library and am in love with the fold-over quilted potholders.

Ok, quilted or knitted/crocheted potholders.  And a section in the questionnaire about what you would like to receive I suppose, since some people may wish to make or receive one or the other.

Random question for you knitters/crocheters....  How sturdy are yarn based potholders?  Are they really thick enough to withstand that much heat from the oven?  I'm not judging... Just curious.

Knitters and Crocheters would use mostly cotton yarn doubled up for potholders. They withstand the heat very well.
