Hi everyone, I am very exited to share this dress with you. My friend Helen needed a dress to wear to a function and asked me to help her out. She wanted a vintage-y polka dot halter dress with a full circle skirt. Of course I am always happy to help when it come to making clothes and went for the challenge. I didn't have a pattern for it so I frankesteined a few bits of one pattern, drafted the halter and the skirt and put it all together. I also made a petticoat for her. Fortunately I had a cut off from an old wedding dress petticoat to use. It's handy to be working in a bridal shop because I get my hands on these things sometimes before they end up in the bin. It saved a lot of cutting out net and tulle and gathering.
Anyway, she came around for a final fitting tonight and absolutely love it. I am just so happy I got to make her exactly what she wanted. As a thank you she let me take some pictures for my blog and craftster.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for your time.

Doesn't she look stunning?
Oh and please ignore the messy background. That's what my workroom looks like when I am actually working in there.

The dress is beautiful, she is beautiful, the shoes are even beautiful! (and I don't say that about shoes very often)

Thanks everyone, I will pass the sweet compliments on to Helen. Maybe she'll let me have a picture taken at the actual event. I'll add it to the loot.

Thanks again everyone. I'm over the moon, receiving all your nice comments.

They are actually my shoes. I helped her out with a few accessories. They are gorgeous, aren't they? The only thing is, they are NOT AT ALL comfortable, but hey when it comes to shoes, who cares.
I bought them in New Look (UK chain for clothing and accessories) for 10 in the sale last year. I don't think you can get them through the shop or website anymore but maybe on ebay or other platforms like that. Their shoe range is called gorgeous feet if that helps.

See, this is the best advantage to working with patterns and tailoring to the body rather than buying off the rack. This dress is perfectly tailored to the body. Great Job Cheesy

Thanks once again. I really appreciate your comments. It inspired me to create more and more items. I will definitely make this style again since everyone loves it as much as Helen and I do.

I agree, it makes such a difference making something for yourself/having something made to your measurements. I am a diffrent size top to bottom (smaller on top, bigger around the hips) and I either find dresses that fit nicely on top and are to tight on the skirt or the other way around. I haven't bought dresses in a long time.
The other great thing is that no one else wears the same.
