I've been dating this guy for a little over a month and he's graduating from college next weekend.  I just realized this morning I should make him a grad gift, but I'm not sure if it's to early for something like that.   Huh  I AM going to the ceremony so I feel like I should acknowledge it some how, even with something small, I just don't know what.  Plus it's finals week all around, so I need something I can whip up in a couple evenings... any ideas?
I should add, he's an audio engineering major, a metal head, a gamer, and likes cooking and beer.

I think you could get away with making him a card, given how long you've been seeing each other.  It's thoughtful, handmade, but not pushy.  You'd do the same for a friend.  And then, in a little bit, depending on how things go, you can always make him something a bit more elaborate for, say, landing a job or another milestone.

UGG!  why don't I remember there are other milestones after graduation?  His facebook status is about how his gown looks like a wizard cape and he feels like he needs a want to complete it, so I'm totally on it!

My partner and I were together for 6 weeks when Christmas came, and I debated for a while whether it was "too soon" so I bought him a gift box and put things like a couple of shirts and a gift pack of deodorant in it - nothing too over board I thought. He gave me a relatively expensive watch so I felt bad mine wasn't as expensive but really glad that I thought to get him anything at all.
A wand does sound appropriate - he'll appreciate you noticed his status and like the humour I think.

Don't know if it's too late but why not a nice bottle of beer with either a handmade card attached, or you could dress up the bottle in a graduation cap and gown.  If nothing else it would be good for a laugh.

The graduating beer would have been an excellent idea but graduation has come and gone.  He got a laugh out of the wand and totally knew what I was referencing, so it all turned out well.
