Excellent question!

How does a month-long challenge for November-ish sound to everyone?

Here are some of my suggestions:
- Original amigurumi
- scrap busting projects
- motifs
- using motifs in a manner that is not an afghan
- best interpretation of a knit pattern converted to crochet
- crocheted items used for yarn bombing

I'm excited to see what the next challenge will bring!  Grin

I know that throughout November (maybe for the future?) Michael's is serving as drop-off places for Warm Up America, maybe in the future we could hold a challenge as to who can crochet/knit the most squares and or blankets?

Michaels is supposed to be running the Warm Up America / Warm Up Canada campaigns year-round.  The Canadian stores used to do Blankets For Canada, but recently changed, so if you're in Canada, check with your store to see what size motifs they're taking (B4C took 8" squares, WUC is asking for 7x9" rectangles).

Though, I'm someone who works at Michaels and who ran the B4C program quite successfully all last year, and even I don't know what we're doing now, so expect that the store associates might not know what you're talking about. Tongue

ETA: there was an idea kicking around a while back about the crochet board challenging the knitting board to see who could make the most squares.  I still think that would be cool. ^_^

I was thinking, to make it more international, people could Finn a local group that takes squares and we'd determine who wins by square inches.

That would leave it open for all square sizes as well as strips and full blankets.

Perhaps we could have bragging rights for the board that wins, a prize for the most square inches on each board, and maybe a vote for favourite square on each board.

Not sure how doable that all is, though.
