I LOVE this!  The simple piecing and the white together is perfect. Learning to free motion quilt has been on my want to learn list for years, but I just don't feel comfortable without the machine pulling the fabric along, it feels a little too out of control for me...but seeing this makes me want to try again!  It's gorgeous.   Grin

The first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail was "ooh, that would make a great table runner", then I looked at the full-sized picture and realized that the dimension weren't right for a table runner.  I love the simplicity of the pattern and the detail that the quilting gives it.  Nice work!

Your first?! Incredible job!! I never would have guessed that you were new to free motion quilting - it looks so great.

I really want to try a project like this to practice free-motion quilting myself. This seems like a good size to work on technique. Thanks for the inspiration Smiley.

I agree with the others - it looks like you've been doing it for awhile!  Very neat!

Thanks everyone.  Remember, I said I was showing you one of the better sections!  If you look closely at the red square you can see that I need a lot more practice.  This is the first practice bigger than 12x12 inches.  I wanted to work on something bigger but no so big that the bulk would cause problems.  This finishes out at about 21" by 28".  It was a good size to practice on.  I thought it would work as a table runner too, but I was working with scraps and it just turned out to have the wrong proportions.

Looks great! I still haven't worked up quite enough nerve to tackle anything much larger than a placemat with free-motion quilting.

That's beautiful, I like your choice of binding too.
