"2) If you're spraying something and the spray has gone out of control FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP SPRAYING. Spraying more to "fix it" is not going to work."

Oh that tickled me!

I only tried bleach yesterday, and I would like to also add the following tip:
Dont pour more bleach on, cos it obviously needs more bleach, straight from the bottle.
Then see that it is happening, very, very quickly!
That was a fun experiment, that won't be making it to Craftster!

Bleach is fun tho isnt it! Grin

add water to the bleach, it should work better.  half bleach, half water.

Was the shirt already washed to get the manufacturer's sizing out of it first?  Sometimes those cotton shirts are practically water repellant until after they've been washed the first time.

I do freezer paper bleach stenciling allot ..  I use a bleach gel pen and Ive never had any bleed over at all,
except when i forget to put freezer paper on the inside so it will not bleed through  the back .
Anyways its really fun . If you use a black shirt it has a fiery glow and you can color it with fabric pens to have a wider choice of colors .

don't give up    Mistakes Can turn out to be the best thing ever . this is my favorite shirt I made so far http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=234675.0 the lines are really close to each other on this one no bleeding

Maybe try tie dying in the white area.  That could look cool!

koodos to you for posting a fail  Grin everyone talks about this freezer paper, i've never used it. I ust use plain ol' computer paper and a paint brush, sometimes i use a pencil dip for the writing. thanks to the tip from enchantedwhimsies, which was to dilute to bleach 3parts bleach to one part water, here is what i made

 ;DI love your post!
I am in the middle of my first attempt and it is going well.  I used one part bleach to three parts water in a travel style bottle.

also instead of freezer paper I used clear contact paper...mostly cuz I was too lazy to look for the freezer paper I stashed around here somewhere.

So far it is looking great

Also, you could buy a spray dye for the same effect with a different color.  Now that my bleaching is done I am doing that with a stencil...keeping fingers crossed that my master plan here will work!

I get what you were trying to do...I's a cool idea.
...But I actually LOVE what it came out as.  Just be confident about wearing it and no one will know.  Grin
