I'm making some candy bowls from my paperclay and I'd like to make sure the final finish on the bowls interior is food safe. I'm painting the bowls with acrylic paints and normaly would use a polycrylic varnish for a protective finish but that's not food safe. I've been looking all over the internet for days and am not finding a food safe product that would work on paperclay.  Anyone know of a product that is food safe?

Beeswax might work for a candy bowl (and is definitely food-safe).  Soften it slightly with heat to apply, and use multiple applications.

I've used paste finishing wax over acrylic paint on paper mache items with great success; the paste product has probably got additives that make it non-food-safe for your purposes, but my experience with it suggests that a pure beeswax finish could work just as well.
