Thanks, everyone   I keep them in my little craft corner (aka the dining table...) and they make me smile when I see them.  Of course now I'm eyeing off my daughter's jeans, thinking her nickname would look pretty cool "tattooed" down her leg (Dizzy, 'cause that's what she makes me.)

I printed off the skull (used normal paper) and pinned that to the right side of the denim.  On the wrong side I pinned the cotton.  Then, right side up, I machine sewed around the stencil until I had all the outlines done.  Pull off the paper, cut out the denim and tada!  Reverse applique skully.  The problem was that the cotton looked too clean, so I used brown ink and some yellow and orange fabric crayon to distress it a bit.
