Loving Craftster as much as I do there is no way I could sit this challenge out!

A combination of applique (the usual and reverse kind) messy stitching, buttons, beads, fabric crayons...and a little hot glue.  Mostly done by hand, though I did use the machine to work the reverse applique.  The image has a little bit of different crafty things that I like.  Couldn't fit them all in, so I settled for a needle and thread, buttons, beads, a paintbrush and a pencil.

The words on the ribbon say 'I run with scissors'. Cheesy  The 'roses' are made from craft felt scraps.  I used heavy cotton for the reverse applique and distressed it a little with brown ink and yellow fabric crayon - the detail isn't great in the pics but you get the idea.

The front...

The rose on the little pocket:

The back... and another scissor-pirate on the pocket.  Hence the 'bad @$$'.

Tops so far. I love this more than I can say, and really love the way it is put together. Gonna wist. (at least until my embroidery and sewing skills improve and I can make it myself.)

I would love to make these for my niece... they are so cute, she was born on Day of the Dead and I love making these dresses for her to wear because I love the tradition and culture behind the day of her birth... but thanks for posting this

Thanks, everyone Smiley  I keep them in my little craft corner (aka the dining table...) and they make me smile when I see them.  Of course now I'm eyeing off my daughter's jeans, thinking her nickname would look pretty cool "tattooed" down her leg (Dizzy, 'cause that's what she makes me.)

love this!

did you paint the skull free hand or stencil?

Thank you Smiley

I printed off the skull (used normal paper) and pinned that to the right side of the denim.  On the wrong side I pinned the cotton.  Then, right side up, I machine sewed around the stencil until I had all the outlines done.  Pull off the paper, cut out the denim and tada!  Reverse applique skully.  The problem was that the cotton looked too clean, so I used brown ink and some yellow and orange fabric crayon to distress it a bit.
