For Xmas my DHs family draws names for gifts (there are 8 of us not including Mom & Dad!)  I drew  my SIL and she didn't have a proper sewing box, so I found this awesome, old rusty, dented, metal tackle box at an estate sale, sanded it down and spray painted it.  Then I made a stencil out of contact paper, put it on the top and painted it again, leaving the plant design behind!  Then I fixed up the inside because it was all stained and stuff, and filled it with goodies, I'm teaching her to crochet!
It was really fun!  So on to the pics...

C&C appreciated! Thanks for looking!

Be the change!

So lovely! The color is beautiful! Great up-cycle. I'm so into spray painting things these days. I've been reading lots of blogs about it. They have so many amazing colors. The new Oil Rubbed Bronze =ORB is a amazing paint as well. Paint flat black and then ORB and things just come to life. Your stencil turned out really nice. I would love this gift. So question on your paint job. Did you remove all the shiny metal hardware first (the front lock) or just tape them off. I was wondering how you would get it off with out damaging it. You did a great job! Very clean and super well done! LURV IT!

Beautiful job!  What a great gift--not just the box but also sharing your crocheting skills!!

I have an old beat up tackle box but have been hesitant to paint it...this makes me want to do it and use it instead of leaving it sit in the garage!

cre8ivegenes-  Thank you!  regarding your Q:  i removed the handle, and taped everything else including the tray inside.  if you attempt, don't be stingy on the painters tape, and spend an adequate amt of time taping... it's worth it!!!

alwaysinmyroom-  Thanks!  totally do it!

Oh yeah, this rocks! It's beautiful to look and and the gift that goes along with it is just wonderful. I may have to steal this idea myself for holiday time. Now all I need is a skill to share and supply!
